How to burn ISO image to DVD
Windows 7
1) Make right click on the ISO image of Free Windows distribution disk and select the "Burn disc image" item.
2) Choose the necessary disk drive (Disk burner) and push the "Burn" button to start burning the disc image.
If you want to receive a notification that the ISO image has been burned correctly please check the "Verify disc after burning" option.
2000/ XP / Vista
1) First you should download the Infra Recorder and install it on your computer. This product is absolutely free.
2) Put in an empty DVD. If the AutoRan dialog box appears please click the "Cancel" button.
3) Launch the Infra Recorder. Then press the "Write Image" button in its main screen.
You can also choose the "Actions" menu and select the "Burn image" in it.
4) On the next step you should choose the ISO image of Free Windows distribution disk and press the "Open" button.
5) Then press the "OK" button.
Mac OS X
1) Open the Apple's Disk Utility ( Applications → Utilities → Disk Utility).
2) Put in an empty DVD.
3) Then you should drag and drop the Free Windows disk image file to the left panel of the Disk Utility. After that operation both the ISO image and the empty disc will be listed on the left panel.
4) Choose the Free Windows disk image file.
5) If you want to receive a notification that the ISO image has been burned correctly please check the "Verify burned data" option. If that option is invisible you should just press the disclosure triangle to see it.
6) Press the "Burn" button.
How to install Free Windows
You shouldn't have any problems with Free Windows installation because there will be very few variants of choice and it will eliminate the possibility of mistake.
1) You should choose the proper language of installation and click the "Install Free Windows" button:
2) To continue the installation process you should make sure that your system meets all the following demands:
- no less than 3.5GB of free space on the hard disk;
- uninterrupted power supply unit (your system must not switch off in the process of installation);
- Internet-connection.
3) On the next step you should make a decision about the hard disk partitioning. It will be excellent to erase the hard disk and to use the whole disk space for Free Windows installation. But you also can partition your hard disk manually if you really need it:
4) Then you should choose on which hard disk you want to install Free Windows:
5) Please select your time zone and click the button "Forward":
6) On the next step you should select the keyboard layout which you will use in the sequel:
7) Then you should fill in an identification form with such data as your name and the name of your computer. You should also invent a username and a password for logging-in. Choose from to options: "Log in automatically" or "Require my password to log in".
8) If everything is OK, Free Windows will be installed in a several minutes. Wait a bit and don't turn off you computer.
9) At the end of the installation process you should restart your computer in order to apply changes. Please click the "Restart Now" button:
10) After the rebooting the new Free Windows operating system will start. When you see the invitation, please input your username and password for logging-in:
After logging-in you will see the empty desktop of Free Windows:
Congratulations! Your new Free Windows operating system is now ready for work. Enjoy yourself!
How to install applications
1) Select "Applications"→"Free Windows Software Center" and find the necessary application. Otherwise choose a category and find the necessary application in the list.
2) Choose the necessary application and press the "Install" button.
3) On the next step you should enter your password. Just after that the process of installation will start. Please, ensure that your computer is connected to the Internet.
4) As a rule it takes just a few minutes to install the application. But if you have a slow Internet connection it could take more time. If the installation process has been successfully completed you are now able to use the new application. For running the application it is necessary to choose it from the Application menu.
How to record CD and DVD disks
If you have a CD writer on you computer you can record any information on CD and DVD disks.
For this purpose you can use the Brasero Disc Burning software. It permits you to create data, audio and video CDs, copy CDs and DVDs and create CDs from disc image files. Just select "Applications" → "Sound & Video"→ "Brasero Disc Burner" to run the application.
How to create an Internet connection
a) How to connect to a Wired network (LAN):
Plug in the network cable and your computer will be automatically connected to a wired network.
But if your network doesn't have a DHCP service which assigns network settings, your computer can't be connected to a wired network. It means that you should enter all network settings manually.
How to enter network settings manually
If your network doesn't have a DHCP service then you should configure a static connection. To assign the network settings correctly you should contact with the network administrator or use the setting of your router.
1) Make right button click on the "Network Manager" icon in the system notification area and select "Edit Connections".
2) Select the "Wired" tab then choose the necessary connection and press the "Edit" button.
3) Select the "IPv4 Settings" tab and the "Method" list will pull down. Please choose the item "Manual" from it.
4) Press the "Add" button. Then enter your IP and DNS server addresses and other necessary details.
5) Press the "Apply" button. If you have assigned all the settings without any errors your computer should be connected to the wired network.
b) How to connect to a Wireless network:
You should carry out the following steps for connecting to a wireless network:
1) Turn on the wireless device.
2) Make right button click on the "Network Manager" icon in the system notification area.
3) Choose the necessary network in the list of Wireless Networks.
Free Windows will automatically connect to the available wireless network, if you have connected to this type of network beforehand.
But if it is the first time when you are connecting to the wireless network, than you can probably be asked to enter some security details. If that's the case you should enter you security information in the proper dialog box.
1) Generally the security type is detected automatically. But if it doesn't happen you should choose the security type from the "Wireless Security" pull-down menu. There are such security types as LEAP, WEP and WPA.
2) Please enter your password, key or other security information when required. The wireless key is always printed on the bottom of the wireless router. Pay attention that such authentication information is often case-sensitive.
3) Press the "Connect" button. If the system asks you to enter the security details once again then you have probably filled in the wrong information or you have some problems with the wireless setup.
c) How to connect to DSL
1) Make right button click on the "Network Manager" icon in the system notification area and select "Edit Connections".
2) Press the "DSL" button.
3) Press the "Add" button.
